A lot is at stake when musicians break with norms and expectations around gender and sexuality, yet we have seen countless examples throughout history. In this lecture, we take a closer look at how artists who follow their own paths can be said to queer music and performance, and what we can learn from their methods, styles, and interpretations.
Ingvil Hellstrand is a Professor at the Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Stavanger. She is particularly interested in the interconnections between storytelling practices and knowledge production, explored through speculative and science fiction, creative practices and more-than-human perspectives. Her current research project is called Doing Disability Futures.
